Scattering of multicomponent polymer blends

چکیده

Abstract The random phase approximation for polymer blends was developed by H. Benoît and described small angle scattering functions as well mean field boundaries. It is a pure theory that loses validity close to the real boundaries due strong fluctuations. However, it gives very clear roadmap about diagrams functions. A simplification of discussed comes into effect when several polymers are mixed involve rather low number chemically different repeat units. Then, correlation same unit pairs can be added up in specific way such overall complexity calculations reduced. within this concept. Graphical abstract

Computer Simulations of the Static Scattering from Model Polymer Blends

To understand the unusual composition and wave vector, q, dependent Flory interaction parameters, ø, obtained from small angle neutron scattering (SANS), we have calculated the three partial structure factors for symmetric binary polymer blends with relatively strong interactions between dissimilar monomers using molecular dynamics simulations. In agreement with past work we find that the radii...

Polymer blends, copolymers and networks. Scattering properties and phase behavior

The phase behavior and scattering properties of polymer blends, copolymers and networks in solution and in bulk are examined. The theoretical framework used here is based upon the extension of the random phase approximation to polymers proposed by de Gennes and its application to chains with various architectures. The case of blends containing stiff chains is considered and the effect of nemati...

Thermodynamics of Polymer Blends 2

This chapter summarizes the thermodynamics of multicomponent polymer systems, with special emphasis on polymer blends and mixtures. After a brief introduction of the relevant thermodynamic principles – laws of thermodynamics, definitions, and interrelations of thermodynamic variables and potentials – selected theories of liquid and polymer mixtures are provided: Specifically, both lattice theor...

Confined flow of polymer blends.

The influence of confinement on the steady-state morphology of two different emulsions is investigated. The blends, made from polybutene (PB) in polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) and polybutadiene (PBD) in PDMS, are sheared between two parallel plates, mostly with a standard gap spacing of 40 microm, in the range of shear rates at which the transition from "bulk" behavior toward "confined" behavior i...
